It all started one day

when I had an idea to start a group/organization…
a movement, if you will:

A male peer “support group”.

Men helping men. Like-minded individuals to build each other up and lean on one another. Different walks of life ie first responders, businessmen, doctors, artists, athletes, etc.

Help each other with health, both mental and physical, networking, etc.

I had heard of and been part of organizations that bragged about camaraderie and brotherhood, but many of the individuals developed toxic and self destructive habits due to the nature of the groups as well as not being lead or taught what a true brotherhood of men should look like.

If you’re not social enough they’d tell you “just have a few drinks until you have the confidence to talk to someone.”

You’re having a bad day? “Go drink until you forget about it”, or “go drown your sorrows in as many women as you can lay.”

Many people I knew developed negative addictions, both to substances as well as situations.

The seed had been planted many years ago, but I didn’t realize it until the spring of 2023.

I thought “What if I took all of the ideas these ‘social’ and ‘networking’ organizations sold people on, and actually made it about that and so much more?”

So I messaged my brother, Erik (co-founder of the MAN/kāv). He was on board with the idea, 100%. From there we contacted other friends we knew would benefit and contribute greatly to the organization.

These friends reached out to others in their circles, and the MAN/kāv was born.

We provide a place where men can leave all of their masks at the door, and be 100% genuinely themselves. A place where we can feel free to challenge the idea of what we had been taught a man is supposed to be, act and feel.

Where we can talk about emotions, feel our feeling as opposed to shoving them deep down inside ourselves, and if we feel the need to, cry.

As men we’re taught “if you feel sad, you’re weak. If you feel like crying, you’re weak. If you talk to someone about ideas or feeling you have, you’re weak.”

Emotions are natural to all humans, whether you’re a man or a woman, but as men, we’re taught to hide them, mask them at all costs, intead of learning how to deal with them; handle them in a healthy manner and move forward with our lives.

At the MAN/kāv, we help build each other physically, emotionally and mentally. We provide a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen and a brotherhood of men to walk beside us and help each other navigate the ups and downs of life.

Together, we can leave the world better than we found it.
